It's fairly high profile now, so don't think it's necessarily down to fear of being accused of islamophobia (and it's not strictly an islamic thing, more about geography/culture). Think it's just fucking hard to catch.
Of these 700 cases reported I imagine a good number of them are grown women who were abused a long long time ago, and have no intention of pressing charges or grassing up the culprits.
Not that I doubt for a second that there aren't a number of young girls getting cut, either this country or sent abroad.
